I am a Research Associate in the Medical Care Research Unit in Health Services Research. My employment with the University of Sheffield commenced in April 2016. I am currently working on the INDEX Study which focuses on the development of Complex Interventions. The aim of this study is to produce guidance for researchers on how to develop complex interventions to improve health or health care outcomes. The design is a sequential mixed methods study in three phases. The phases include: a systematic reviews component, a qualitative component and a consensus exercise component. I am undertaking the systematic review phase of the study.
I undertook my PhD in the Social Policy Research Unit in the University of York, which I completed in 2016. My PhD was a methodological programme of research involving three qualitative systematic reviews. I explored how methods-centred reviews can inform researcher decisions in choices of data collection methods (and their application). The reviews were based in the field of dementia and alternative communication research methods. Previously, I have worked as a researcher at the University of Hertfordshire in the Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care (CRIPACC). I was a Research Assistant on the EXPLORE DD study which synthesised the experiences of dementia diagnosis and treatment through a qualitative systematic review.
My research interests are systematic review methodology, including Complex Intervention development. I am also interested in dementia research.
My teaching interests are systematic reviewing (qualitative), research methodology and health-related social policy.
