Title of PhD
To explore the use of cognitive strategies in supporting the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain.
I qualified as a physiotherapist in June 2007 from Kuwait University. After graduation I had worked within the majority of physiotherapy departments at governmental hospitals in Kuwait for one year. Then I joined an orthopaedic specialized hospital in Dec 2008 as clinical physiotherapist to present. In 2011, I got a scholarship from Kuwait Government to continue my postgraduate studies. I was awarded my MSc in applying physiotherapy-musculoskeletal from Sheffield Hallam University, UK in Sep 2012. I started my PhD study in Jan 2013 at University of Manchester, UK and transferred to University of Sheffield, UK Dec 2013.
My research interests are mostly within musculoskeletal physiotherapy field, pain management, chronic musculoskeletal pain management and self-care, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), chronic low back pain and knee osteoarthritis. Also, I am interested in a mixed methods research study design.
I have interest in teaching in the following areas in physiotherapy: chronic pain management, assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, cognitive behavioral theories and therapy, and critical thinking and clinical skills.
