Information Officer


I joined the department in 2016 as an Information Officer in ScHARR Library after undertaking a Graduate Traineeship. My role is primarily to help staff and students locate the information they require for their research. This involves the management of stock, especially to support taught course and also offer advice on referencing, reference management and information sources.

In addition, I provide support to wider Information Resource Group projects, have helped to develop the Library's social media presence and also act as a gateway to Information Specialists for literature searching, Open Access and Copyright queries from researchers.

Research Interests

In September 2017 I completed MSc in Digital Library Management. As part of this, I undertook a research project on how researchers Text Data Mining activities could be supported by Academic Libraries.

My MSc dissertation topic was a qualitative exploratory study of Library and Information Professionals' perceptions and expectations of Conversational Agents; this included a consideration of the ethical issues which could arise from the introduction of Artificial Intelligence in to a Library or Information Service.

In June 2014, I graduated from BA (Hons) Business Management at the University of Sheffield.

Professional Activities

  • In January 2019, I began undertaking a professional qualification, Chartership.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
  • Members of ScHARR's Reward and Recognition panel and the ScHARR Communications group.
  • In April 2019 I became a Code Club facilitator, helping children begin to learn basic coding skills.
