Biography

I am an Information Scientist in the Centre for Health and Social Care Research at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and an expert on literature reviews in the health, social care and biosciences subject areas.  I have over 10 years of experience and I am a qualified information professional, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), as well as a Higher Education Academy Fellow and I was an elected regional board member for my professional body for over eight years.

I was fortunate enough to have been awarded the Faculty of Medicine scholarship to study for a PhD with ScHARR at the University of Sheffield.   My PhD explores the relationship between the physical environment and wellbeing in care homes for older people.

Supervisors:  Dr Emma Hock and Dr Sarah Barnes

Research Interests

I worked alongside a colleague at SHU to undertake extensive research into physical learning environments; most notably, the execution and synthesis of mixed methods research into a typology of learning space preference attributes.

I am currently supporting two health and social care PhD students at SHU.

Teaching Interests

I provide training for research staff and postgraduate research students on aspects such as literature review methods, scholarly impact and open access publishing as well as consultancy and training in information skills for external organisations.  For seven years I wrote and delivered information literacy sessions for all SHU biosciences students.
