Biography

I joined the University of Sheffield in September 2016, as a PhD student at the School of Health and Related Research, Section of Public Health.  My research area lies within the broad scope of Nutrition transition.

Prior to starting my PhD, I worked as a Nutritionist with the Ghana Health Service, Ridge Regional Hospital.  I was involved in monitoring the nutritional status of the inhabitants of the Osu Klottey metropolis in Accra, Ghana.  My main focus was on nutrition education, counselling, micronutrient supplementation and community malnutrition programs.

Research Interests

My research interests are:-

  • Nutrition transition in developing countries
  • Classification of 'unhealthy' and 'healthy' foods to develop Food Base Dietary Guidelines in African Context
  • Diet and chronic non-communicable disease in developing countries
  • Breast feeding and complimentary feeding
  • Nutrition in the Elderly
  • Food and nutrition security
