Profile

I started studying for a PhD at University of Sheffield in September 2017. I have previously completed a PhD at University of Birmingham in December 2016 (graduating in June 2017) studying the governance of housing associations in England. My first degree was in Law at Exeter University and I also obtained a Masters of Law from Bristol University and qualified as a solicitor before ceasing to practise law. I have an MBA from Henley Management College. I previously enrolled on a Doctor of Business Administration programme at Bournemouth University but abandoned my studies because of concerns about conflicts between my employed position as a senior executive and stance as an inside action researcher. I learnt a lot from that experience about the importance of research ethics and also obtained a certificate in research studies.

I am enrolled as a full-time PhD student but Iam also continuing to work as the Chief Executive of Housing & Care 21 (a not for profit/charitable housing association providing housing and care for older people across England). I have previously been Chief Executive of Hanover Housing Association, Wolverhampton Homes and Deputy Chief Executive of Anchor Trust and a Board member of a number of other housing associations and charities.
