The student printing service is known as the pre-pay printing system or printing and copying management system (PCMS). You can print to student printers from University computers or from your own laptop or desktop computer at home (via VPN).
You will be able to use the system once you have registered at the University and on doing so you will be credited £2; after that, you must credit your account through MUSE (click on MyPrinting Account and pay using a debit/credit card) or by using value loading machines located in Libraries and IT Centres. The value loaders accept coins and notes in the following denominations: 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2, £5, £20.
More details of the service are available on the CiCS website.
Your UCard and the Pre-pay System
Your UCard is required for adding credit using a value loader and it is needed to release the print job and/or to photocopy. If your UCard is lost or stolen notify the Student Services Information Desk (SSiD) immediately, located on Level 3 of The Students' Union Building.
It is not possible to use your UCard to release printing sent from any computer account other than your own. This means that if anyone gets hold of your UCard, they cannot use your funds to print their own work. They can, however, use it to photocopy, so it is important that lost or stolen UCards are reported immediately.
You can find further information on lost, stolen and damaged UCards here.
