The School of East Asian Studies is very proud to announce that Professor Katherine Morton, Chair of China’s International Relations, has been chosen to take up the position of Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee's inquiry into China and the Rules-Based International System.
The inquiry seeks to examine how China has participated and engaged with the international order, and how the UK can respond to and support the process.
As Specialist Adviser, Professor Morton will provide advice by sharing her expert knowledge of China’s engagement with international organisations such as the UN and Word Trade Organisation, the Chinese approach to international relations, and its future global ambitions and the likely implications for UK foreign policy.
Along with this new position, on 28 March 2018 she provided expert advice to the House of Lords International Relations Committee inquiry into UK foreign policy in changing world conditions addressing the impact of China’s rise on regional and international affairs:
