British Association for Japanese Studies Conference 2018
Postgraduate Student Workshop
The British Association for Japanese Studies (BAJS) is pleased to invite the participation of Postgraduate students in a workshop to be held on the morning of 5th September 2018 at INOX, University of Sheffield, to precede its annual conference.
The workshop will be delivered by the conference plenary speakers, Professor Mōri Yoshitaka (Tokyo University of the Arts) and Professor Gennifer Weisenfeld (Duke University), and be run in the form of a two part masterclass. In the first part of the class, Professor Weisenfeld will address the topic of uses for visual media in research, while Professor Mōri will discuss creative activities for engaging public interest in research activities and results.
For the second part of the class, participants will need to submit a 150 word description of their current research, and an initial idea of how creative methods of research or dissemination could be incorporated into it. On the basis of these submissions participants will be divided into groups to be led by one of the keynote speakers for more detailed discussion of, and feedback on their ideas and projects.
There is no fee for attendance at the workshop, but the number of available places is limited, so those interested in participating are encouraged to register without delay, via this form.
The deadline for registration and submission of research descriptions is Monday, 20th August 2018.
