Jiaxin is a Ph.D. student in East Asian, focusing on China’s economy. His research seeks to prove the application of PBC theory (the Political Business Cycle) in China and analyses the impact of PBC to Chinese economy. Broadly, he is interested in how Chinese politics influence business cycles.
Jiaxin also serves as Deputy Director to Pride Group and advisor to China Sports Fund.

Political Business Cycle refers the economic fluctuation created by political cycle, usually elections. However, election seems playing a minor role in China’s politics. It brings to a question that whether PBC still functional as it works in western countries with electoral system. Further the discussion, the observation from Chinese SOEs also indicates political cycle has a certain degree of impact on firms’ performances. It brings the second question that how the political cycle influences SOEs. The discovery of these questions could be significantly shaping the understanding of China’s economic fluctuation.
