 Skills Resource Bank

Use the Skills Resource bank to search, identify and filter the opportunities that are most appropriate for you as part of your own skills development pathway and to work towards developing the attributes of the Sheffield Graduate.

You can also build up a log of activities undertaken via the Activities Dashboard, which you can use to keep track of your own personal and professional development. Search by category, take the 301 Skills Audit, or customise according to a range of tags and filters.

Talks, workshops and one-to-one advice to enable you to develop a range of skills to help you to succeed in the future. We also support you to understand and articulate the skills you’ve gained from your studies, employment experience and extra-curricular activities, and see how these can help you in a variety of ways, from making career choices to improving your chances in the recruitment process.

301 provides a range of workshops, one-to-one appointments and online resources to enhance your academic skills for success on your course and beyond. Visit the 301 webpages, drop into our reception or browse the Skills Resource Bank to book onto a session or find information and advice on managing your time, assignments, exams, communication skills and much more.

301 is open to all students from all levels of study and you can work towards the Academic Skills Certificate to gain HEAR recognition for your skills development activity.

MASHsquareMaths and Statistics Help

MASH is a free service available to all students requiring help with any area of maths or statistics relating to their course or research. We do this by offering a range of core services to students to help develop learning skills such as:

• Drop-in facility with specialist maths and stats tutors
• Appointments for targeted support (for individuals or small groups)
• Study room with resources and tutors to help
• Help using maths and statistics software e.g SPSS, Excel and Matlab
• Online material for self-study
• Online diagnostic testing
• Workshops covering key areas

USEsquareUniversity of Sheffield Enterprise (USE)

What does USE do?

USE seeks to stimulate new ideas and supports students and graduates of the University to make their entrepreneurial ideas happen, through a programme of activities including: business coaching, advice, seed funding and incubation space.

When do we do it?

The Enterprise Zone is open 9-5, Monday to Friday, you don’t need to book an appointment. If you prefer, you can call us during office hours and speak to somebody over the phone.

ELTCsquareEnglish Language Teaching Centre

The English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) offers a wide range of English language courses and services for University students and departments, as well as the public. Whether you are interested in studying at the University, are a student already or are simply looking to improve your English, our activities and resources could be for you.

The ELTC is housed in a purpose-built facility which includes modern classrooms and well-equipped computer suites, as well as advanced audio-visual equipment and learning resources. Our staff have experience of teaching international students in a wide range of locations and situations, both in the UK and overseas.
