MA in Intercultural Communication, Class of 2008/09
I chose this course [...] because I’m really interested in developing my knowledge of different cultures, and learning about different stereotypes and ‘going over’ these stereotypes – I was really interested in that. And actually, when I came here, this course was exactly what I wanted –actually, maybe even more. First of all it has opened my mind, [...] comparing it to the country I come from – which is Poland – the way of thinking is really different and it has opened my mind and made me [...] look all around me and not just in a strict, fixed way. So that was a great thing. The other thing was that in my MA, there were lots of international people as well as native speakers and it was really great to make friends and to compare our ways of learning and of studying – it was really cool. The whole environment, the way they treat you here; they make you feel equal – you can learn a lot from the helpful staff and your fellow students. So, I would recommend it highly, and to be honest, it was a very hard year but it was one of the best years of my life. In the future, I’m thinking about working in an international company and putting the skills and abilities that I’ve developed here - especially the aptitude to talk to people from many different countries and cultures - to good use.
