MA in Screen Translation

Our MA in Screen Translation opens up a wide range of career paths in the translation and related industries such as a professional in-house or freelance subtitler or translator, or to work in a variety of related positions in the translation and media industries. Graduates have entered careers as:

  • Deluxe Media (live-unit subtitlers)
  • various translation companies abroad

Many of our graduates have found work before completing their degree. For example, one student applied for an internship on the basis of his Dissertation topic in 3D subtitling which led to employment with the company.

We also offer doctoral study for students wishing to pursue research in areas of interest developed during their Masters' study.  Recently completed Phd's by screen translation students have included subtitling of humour, "Subtitling Strategies for the Translation of English Wordplay into German" and "The Differences between Dutch and Flemish Subtitling".
