Fees and funding

Find out more about tuition fees for UK/EU students on the University's undergraduate pages.

This fee covers all charges for registration, tuition, access to materials in The Sheffield University library – including e-journals, books and handbooks. The fee does not include the costs of additional set course books, your postage or telephone calls to the University, and the binding of your dissertation.

Other potential costs

Reassessment Fees

If for any reason, you fail or are unable to complete an assessed piece of work which is a requirement to pass your course, you may be required to pay a reassessment fee. information about these fees can be found on the University's exam webpages.

Examinations overseas

If you have international fee status and are required to resit examinations you may be able to apply to sit these in your home countries. To do this a fee will be payable to the University. Find out more

Late Registration Fee

If you are late registering for your course you may be required to pay a late registration fee of £50 depending on your circumstances.

Additional funding

While the cost of living for our students is among the lowest in the country, you may still be able to benefit from the extra financial assistance we can provide.

QStep Scholarship 2019

Q-Step Scholarship 2019

The SMI have 4 scholarship bursaries available worth £10,000 each for graduates from recognised Q-Step accredited programmes.  The scholarship will go towards funding the student on the MA Social Research degree at the Sheffield Methods Intitute, starting in September 2019.

Students must have Home status and complete a dissertation using quantitative methods.

Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarships

There is funding of 100+ scholarships worth £10,000 each for students considering a postgraduate taught course in 2019.

The scholarships are for students who meet at least one of the University's widening participation criteria and/or students who achieve a first in their undergraduate degree. If your application is successful you can use the scholarship towards fees or living expenses, the choice is yours.
