I joined the University of Sheffield in 1992 as a locum lecturer and was later appointed to consultant pathology position in the NHS, but supporting academic teaching research.

I am currently senior cardio-thoracic pathologist at the Royal Hallamshire Histopathology department. I work with the Coronial service in autopsy pathology and have a medico-legal practice.

Research interests

My research interests are cardiac disease (sudden cardiac death, atherogenesis) and occupational lung pathology.

Current projects

Editor for the second edition of Cardiac Pathology, (Springer).

Teaching activities

I am a proponent in interactive teaching with one:one teaching at the bench and in the autopsy room.

Professional activities and memberships

I am lead pathologist part of the MRCS exams and incoming lead for the CHAT (autopsy) exam for the FRCPath.
