Yirui Qian is a PhD student based at the Sheffield Centre of Health and Related Research (SCHARR). She has a BSc in Traditional Chinese Pharmacy and a double BA in Economics. Prior to her pursuit of this PhD degree, she completed an MSc in Health Economics and Decision Modelling at the University of Sheffield.

Research interests

Yirui's PhD, titled "Comparison of statistical methods for the analysis of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in randomised controlled trials (RCTs)", is mainly composed of four parts:

  • Literature reviews on statistical methods that have been applied or developed for the analysis of PROs
  • Filtration of a list of statistical methods for analysing PROs in RCTs
  • Empirical analysis by applying filtered methods to analyse PROs in various RCTs
  • Monte Carlo simulation analysis for comparing the performance of different methods
