Course Structure

There are two routes to completing a masters degree through the Advancing Practice Framework:

Option One

Total: 180 credits

Option Two

  • Complete Evidence Based Practice (SNM6016) (15 credits) or Evidence Based Practice - online (SNM660) (15 credits) and Research Methods - online (SNM663) (15 credits)
  • Select your choice of modules to a total of 90 credits from any of the available Postgraduate CPD units (90 credits)
  • Finally, complete the Dissertation (SNM6018) module (60 credits)

Total 180 credits

How to Apply

Complete the online form and select your chosen PG Certificate. We will then contact you to ask for your module choices. Once you have applied online you will be sent a funding form.

You will not need to apply online again to register for further modules.

Flexibility is built into the Framework in a number of ways:

  • you’ll have up to five years of part-time study to complete your award, although it will be necessary to re-register with the University on a yearly basis as you are required to be continually registered throughout the programme of study
  • some elements of the Framework are delivered completely online allowing you to study in your own time
  • previous learning can count towards your qualification through the process of Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL).

What qualification would I get?

You can choose to leave the course early and still gain a postgraduate qualification. The qualification achieved will depend of which route you take and how many credits you complete. On completion of 60 credits you would be awarded a postgraduate certificate, 120 credits a postgraduate diploma and 180 credits a Master of Medical Science.
