Entry into general practice nursing

Return to Practice
For qualified 'adult branch' nurses whose NMC registration has lapsed. A  bespoke programme designed for nurses with an interest in working again in general practice.

Establishing a role as a General Practice Nurse

Induction and preceptorship
For qualified nurses who are new to general practice. A flexible one year programme that includes study days and support visits from experienced practice educators.

Enhancing the General Practice Nurse role

CPD and study days
A range of fit for purpose training designed to progress the General Practice Nurse career at all levels.  From essential skills updates through to programmes developing nurses to, for example, manage long-term conditions and prescribe medicines.

Mentorship preparation
For nurses to develop their role as a mentor in general practice settings

General Practice Advanced Nurse Practitioner
For nurses to develop into an advanced practice role in general practice. It is a part time MMedSci programme covering advanced autonomous practice competencies

Expanding the healthcare support workforce

Health Care Assistants
For those wishing to prepare for or develop their role as a health care assistant in primary care. We have a range of study days available.

Nurse Associates
A new role to build the capacity of the workforce including general practice. The University of Sheffield is a partner for a North of England pilot development.
