When did you graduate?
Why did you choose the University of Sheffield?
The University of Sheffield was my first choice for many reasons: it is a member of the prestigious Russell Group universities, is one of the world top-100 universities, and it has the best students union in the UK. The Health and Human Sciences course was also appealing to me because of the range of core and optional modules offered, and the opportunity to use knowledge in practice during final year placement.
What do you think of Sheffield?
Sheffield was definitely the best place to experience student life! It is small enough to walk anywhere, but still there is always something exciting happening on and off campus. I have explored lots of new things and made lots of friends from all over the world.
What advice would you give to prospective Health and Human Sciences students?
Don’t feel like you have to limit yourself only to a certain area of healthcare, use the opportunity to choose from the big range of modules that the course offers – only that way you’ll learn what is best for you.
What was the most enjoyable and rewarding part of the course?
I enjoyed all aspects of the course, including the great support from the School’s staff members, the diversity of the course, and the placement within a management position at the University. Graduating with a first class degree, and most of all, finding the right direction as a career was the most rewarding part of my studies.
What are you doing now?
I am currently working as a Chief Specialist in the Strategic Development Department at the National Research Cardiac Surgery Center in Kazakhstan – my home country. I have been assigned many interesting projects so far, and continue to enjoy new challenges in the work environment.
Do you think your degree helped (is helping you) further your career?
My degree has definitely helped me further my career, as I am currently using all the knowledge, experience and skills gained during my studies.
