Learned Societies Funding for Department of Sociological Studies PGRs
Learned Societies funding has now been devolved to Departments and applications will be considered through the Department’s conference fund. Please see the section below on departmental conference funds for details of how to apply.
Department Conference Funding
In addition to the funding devolved from the Learned Societies, the Department has set aside funding to support conference attendance. Postgraduate research students registered in the Department of Sociological Studies wishing to apply for funding will now need to complete ONE form which is available from the 'Download' section above.
How do I apply?
Postgraduate students applying for Learned Societies funding will now need to complete the Postgraduate Conference Fund application form from the ‘Download’ section above. These forms have now replaced the Learned Society forms, although Learned Society regulations still apply to all requests for funding. Further details of the Learned Societies regulations are available in the 'See also' section above.
Postgraduates are entitled to submit two applications per academic year to the conference fund. Applicants will need to provide the following information:
- details of the conference to be covered by the request,
- costs of conference fee, travel and accommodation/subsistence
Faculty Research Support for self-funded PGRs
The Faculty is now offering funding to assist with research-related expenses of PGR's who are not in receipt of a research support training grant (RTSG). They will support UK or overseas study visits, research costs and fieldwork expenses. In order to apply for funding the student needs to complete the attached Application form and then send it to their supervisor. The supervisor would need to add a supporting statement and then submit the form to email@example.com. Funds are limited and there are two deadlines per year - 30th November and 30th April.
