Honourable mention for Helen Kennedy’s ‘innovative’ book Post, Mine, Repeat
Professor Helen Kennedy was recently shortlisted for a prestigious book award from the Association of Internet Researchers.
Helen’s book – Post, Mine, Repeat – narrowly missed out on the 2017 Nancy Baym Book Award as the prize went to Nicholas John for his book The Age of Sharing, however Helen received an Honourable Mention for her publication.
The awarding committee commented: “The competition was especially hard this year, with many exceptional books submitted, making our job really difficult. Acknowledging this, the committee would like to specifically mention two books, whose innovative approach, originality and breadth of scholarship make them stand out: Helen Kennedy’s Post, Mine Repeat, and Holly Kruse’s Off-Track and Online."
Also this month, Helen Kennedy’s paper, Emotions in Everyday Engagements with Data and Their Visualisation, has been selected as the Faculty of Social Science’s Digital Society Paper of the Month.
In this Paper of the Month, Helen highlights the role that emotions play in engagements with data and their visualisation.
