What to do if you experience exceptional, short-term problems that affect your ability to undertake your exam.

If you experience exceptional, short-term problems that affect your ability to prepare for or sit your exams, you may be able to apply for extenuating circumstances.

These may include:

  • Bereavement
  • Significant personal circumstance
  • Serious short-term illness/accident/hospitalisation
  • Deterioration or fluctuation of a disability or long-term health condition

It’s down to your department whether they consider your circumstances. Please inform them directly about any extenuating circumstances you may have using the form on the page below.
