Vacancy for Sessional Counsellors

The University of Sheffield Counselling Service is looking to add to our current pool of sessional counsellors to work for short-term periods.
The Service comprises a Head of Counselling, full and part-time therapists, a Mental Health Support Coordinator and is supported by an Administration team. Students are triaged by the Student Access to Mental Health Service and all therapists and some sessional counsellors contribute to the service. Counsellors currently working in the Service use a variety of theoretical approaches in their work, ranging from psychoanalytic and psychodynamic to person centred and humanistic approaches. Many use integrative ways of working and some include cognitive behavioural strategies. In addition, the Service offers a range of self-help strategies and drop-in workshops throughout the academic year. The Counselling Service works closely with the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service, the University Health Service and other departments within Student Services.
The Service is interested in recruiting sessional counsellors to assist in managing demand at busy periods and to widen the repertoire of ways of working with student clients.
Applicants must be educated to degree level and have a significant counselling qualification, accredited by BACP or UKCP and have extensive counselling experience. They will also need broad knowledge and understanding of the professional field, including the arena of mental health, plus some knowledge, experience and understanding of the specific demands of student counselling.
Hours of work are on an ad hoc and casual basis, and work is not guaranteed on any particular day or week.
Rate of pay will be circa £21.91 per hour, to be paid monthly.
