Principles of Assessment

The University's Learning and Teaching Strategy sets out principles to promote assessment that is fair, valid and reliable. In addition, institution-wide assessment criteria are defined at every level of progression through programmes of study.

Examination Results

Undergraduate students should receive an email in early March giving details of when their Autumn semester examination results will be released. Please click on the link above for details of all examination publication dates.

Plagiarism and Collusion

The course/student handbook provided by your academic department should provide further specific guidance on how to reference other's work and avoid plagiarism.

UG Transcripts - Grade and Results Codes

Anonymous Marking

The course/student handbook provided by your academic department may provide further instructions about the submission of anonymized work.

Penalty Policies

The course/student handbook provided by your academic department should provide specific guidance on the operation of penalty schemes for late submission of assessed work, non-attendance and non-participation in group work. The University Unified Policy document is provided here.

Individual Guidance

If you need individual guidance on your academic performance or you have any queries about assessment, you should raise this in the first instance with your 'home' academic department/school. Depending on the department, you may need to ask at the departmental office or to contact your Personal Tutor or a Departmental Examinations Officer.

Degree Awards (Postgraduate Taught)

Guidance for postgraduate taught students on the determination and award of degree qualifications. Note - Final Statements of Results are posted out to students in late November on completion of the degree.
