How can I access it?

Your Internal HEAR

You can view what's in your HEAR so far via MUSE:

  • Click on My services -> View all services -> HEAR

This is a live preview of what your official HEAR will contain, so new achievements will appear as soon as they have been loaded on your record.

  • Your examination results will be updated at the same time as they are published online via myResults - see the Examination Results web page for full details.
  • Extra-curricular activities will be added to your HEAR once you have completed the criteria for gaining HEAR recognition. HEAR criteria for each activity are published in the online database of verifiable activities. Your activity organiser will update your HEAR, so talk to him/her to find out exactly when this will happen.

Use your Internal HEAR to:

  • help you review your progress, and plan what you want to achieve by the end of your course, e.g. with your personal tutor or a Careers Adviser;
  • decide which extra-curricular activities in Section 6.1 you would like to be published in Interim/Exit HEARs (see below);
  • report any issues with your HEAR.

This will help you make the most of the academic and extra-curricular opportunities available to you at university. Learn how to enhance your HEAR, to ensure that it includes as many of your skills and achievements as possible.

Your Official HEAR

Your official HEAR will be issued to you via a secure online system called ShARe (Sheffield Authorised Records), in the form of an embedded PDF.

From March in your first year, you will be issued with official 'snapshots' of your HEAR-so-far ('Interim HEARs') via ShARe. These will allow you to share results and achievements that have already been verified, as you begin to apply for internships, jobs, or further study. If you leave the University before completing your course, you will continue to have access to your latest Interim HEAR, to provide you with an official record of the achievements you obtained during your time at Sheffield.

At the end of your course, during Graduation Week, your HEAR will be finalised in the ShARe system. This will give you official confirmation of your full set of university results and achievements (your 'Exit HEAR').

You will continue to have access to ShARe after graduation, and you will be able to use ShARe to give other people (e.g. employers/postgraduate admissions tutors) permission to view your HEAR as well, so that you can use your HEAR as official evidence of your university learning and experience.

How often will be my HEAR be updated in ShARe?

Your HEAR will be updated 3 times each year:, following each of the main examination periods:

  • March (1-2 weeks after the Autumn results release date)
    (to verify new Autumn examination results and extra-curricular achievements)
  • Graduation Week (July)
    (to verify new Spring examination results and extra-curricular achievements)
  • Week before Intro Week (September)
    (to verify new Re-sit examination results and extra-curricular achievements)

IMPORTANT

  • When your HEAR is updated in ShARe, either to provide you with a new Interim HEAR or a final Exit HEAR, it will replace the previous version. If you have shared the previous version with others, you will need to re-share the new version.

To log in, you will need the following details (both can be found in Section 1 of your Internal HEAR on MUSE):

  • User ID - your HUSID (HESA Unique Student ID)
  • Password - your University Registration Number upon first login (but you must change this to something more personal when you first log in; you must also change your email to an email you will continue to use after graduation)

To find out more about the ShARe system, visit the ShARe information page on the SSiD website.

Please note that the HEAR is only applicable to undergraduates who are studying for a defined qualification at the University of Sheffield. Incoming Study Abroad and Erasmus students will not therefore receive a HEAR. However, Study Abroad and Erasmus students will be able to access their results online in the same way as all other undergraduate students, and will also, at the end of their studies, be issued with an electronic Transcript via the ShARe system, providing them with official confirmation and evidence of their results.
