What your exam results mean and how they will impact your visa.

Continuing undergraduates

Pass (P/M), Continuing (C) or Permitted to Proceed Carrying Fails (PC/MC)

You can continue at University as long as you have a valid visa.

Fail (F) or Not Assessed (NA)

You must contact your department to discuss whether to:

  • re-register to repeat a period of study as an internal candidate, known as "repeating with attendance"; or
  • resit your exams as an external candidate, known as "resitting without attendance"

Fail (FN)

Please contact International Student Support for advice.

Fail (WD)

You're no longer a student at the University.

You will receive an email from International Student Support with further information. You must leave the UK before your visa cancellation date.

If you intend to study at another University, you should contact them for immigration advice.

Final year undergraduates

Fail (Final) or NA (Final)

You must contact your department to discuss whether to:

  • re-register to repeat a period of study as an internal candidate, known as "repeating with attendance"; or
  • resit your exams as an external candidate, known as "resitting without attendance"

WD Fail

You're no longer a student at the University.

You will receive an email from International Student Support with further information. You must leave the UK before your visa cancellation date.
