The public state-funded healthcare system in the UK is called the National Health Service or NHS. Students coming for courses of six months or more are eligible for treatment under the NHS and medical insurance is not necessary.

For more information about entitlement to health care including free hospital treatment, visit these UKCISA webpages.

For all students, all forms of contraception (birth control) are available free.

In 2015 the UK Government introduced a surcharge payable by international students to access the NHS. Please see important imformation on our immigration webpages.
