International Women’s Day 2014

Special FREE screening of ‘North Country’

Reception at 6pm and Film at 7pm

Sheffield University Students Union

Join women from all walks of life and of all ages and nationalities to celebrate International Women’s Day for the FOURTH year running at a special free film screening. With a Networking Reception with ‘Drinks and Cakes’ at 6pm in the Union Foyer; guests will then move to the Auditorium at 7pm for the Film screening which will follow short contributions from Paul Blomfield MP for Sheffield Central; Kat Chapman, Women’s Officer, Sheffield University and Pat Pepper from UNIT.

‘North Country’ is a fictionalized account of the first major sexual harassment case in the United States—Jensen vs Eveleth Mines where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit. And 1984 in the UK saw the start of the Miners Strike!

In solidarity with women in Sheffield & across the world, a BUCKET COLLECTION will be taken & shared between Sheffield Young Carers, Sheffield Rape Crisis Centre and The Fistula Foundation.
