Global Engagement hosts key conference on international student recruitment
The Department of Global Engagement hosted an International Agent Conference from 18-20 June, welcoming key stakeholders in international student recruitment to find out more about our University.
Every year, many international students join the University through the support of a recruitment agent. Recruitment agents help students select their universities and guide them through the application and visa process. Building good relationships with our agents is integral to our success when recruiting overseas students.
We invited a group of key agents we work with to Sheffield to showcase our campus, facilities, students and staff. These agents are ‘Senior Counsellors’ who directly advise and influence prospective students.
The International Agent Conference was an opportunity for our agents to see first-hand what it's like to study at the University, so that they feel empowered to counsel prospective students about everything that we have to offer, as well as an opportunity to showcase the best of our facilties andwhat it's like to live in the city.
Agents met with academic departments, toured our facilties and attended an interactive workshop in the Diamond. They also experienced a very British afternoon tea, visited Chatsworth House and attended an evening meal at Cutlers' Hall.
