Athena SWAN Bronze award for Department of Mechanical Engineering
Congratulations to the Department of Mechanical Engineering on receiving an Athena SWAN Bronze Award.
The Athena SWAN Charter recognises commitment to tackling gender inequality in higher education and celebrates good employment practice for women working in science, engineering and technology in higher education and research.
We now have a total of nineteen Athena SWAN awards across the University, with all departments across our STEM faculties now achieving individual awards.
Receiving an Athena SWAN award demonstrates that the departments has gone above and beyond university policy to foster a supportive culture and practices which enable both women and men to fulfil their career potential.
“I am delighted at the recognition awarded to our institution by Athena SWAN. At the University we aim to attract, engage and retain the best talent, and our commitment to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter will help us to embed inclusivity throughout the institution to create a truly remarkable place to work". Andy Dodman, Director of Human Resources.
