Are you a keen baker? Do you think you could you be the next Rahul? Now you have the chance to test your baking talents at the Big Uni Bake. You'll also get the chance to meet Rahul himself, who will be awarding prizes to the winners.

Whatever you love to bake, we want to hear from you! The competition is open to all University staff and students and will take place on Friday 22 February 2019.

Entries will be judged by a panel of expert chefs and keen bakers, and prizes will be handed out by special guest star Rahul Mandal, Research Associate at our Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), and Great British Bake Off winner 2018.

The event will also feature a charity bake sale, the proceeds of which will be given to two Sheffield-based charities: Roundabout and Cherry Tree.

Rahul works as a Research Associate at the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the AMRC. He shot to fame last autumn with his exquisite bakes in The Great British Bake Off 2018. Having come to the UK from India in 2015, he only started baking in 2016 as a hobby outside of work.

Rahul wants to encourage more people to get into baking, especially men:

“I only started my baking journey a few years ago and if I can be in the tent, so can anyone who loves baking. Remember, the secret ingredient for baking is 'love'."
