The Big Walk
Today staff from across our University are taking part in the Big Walk, a 26.2 mile hike, to raise money for the Sheffield Scanner Appeal.
Following the hugely successful Big Walk 2017, even more participants have signed up this year, with over 350 staff, students, alumni, family and friends taking on the challenge. The walkers will be setting off at Lodge Moore 7am, taking a route through breathtaking Peak District scenary, including Stanage Edge, Derwent Edge and Low Bradfield, before finishing at the University Arms pub with a celebration BBQ.
Colleagues are taking on this daunting challenge in order to raise vital funds for the Sheffield Scanner campaign to bring a MRI-PET scanner to Sheffield This will be the first of its kind in Yorkshire and will help to transform research into and treatment of some of the most debilitating diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer’s, Motor Neurone Disease and many more.
