Celebrate 20 years of the Cancer Clinical Trial Centre

Friday 25 October 2019, 9.30am - 11.30am

CCTC Seminar Room Weston Park Hospital, Whitham Road, Sheffield S10 2SJ

On Friday 25 October 2019 the Cancer Clinical Trial Centre (CCTC) will be celebrating its 20th birthday.

Our Academic Unit of Clinical Oncology first established a clinical research facility at Weston Park Hospital in 1992. The main aim was to provide a centre for the coordination of clinical research within Weston Park Hospital, which, by providing facilities and staff for data management, protocol design and data analysis, would enable all clinical staff at Weston Park Hospital to participate in clinical trials.

Our Academic Unit of Clinical Oncology leads and supports world class clinical and translational cancer research that enables patients to live longer and better lives. The Cancer Clinical Trial Centre within Weston Park Hospital provides facilities for the assessment and treatment of patients, office space for staff with fully networked computer systems, a laboratory, and specialist activities such as bone densitometry. The environment is ideal for both patients and staff and has allowed rapid expansion of the staffing and the range of research that can be performed.

Colleagues from the centre will be sharing their experiences from the past 20 years and will have a stand in Weston Park Hospital promoting the department to patients.

They will also be joined by Weston Park Cancer Charity, Yorkshire Cancer Research and The Cancer Alliance in the Seminar Room at CCTC for staff and patients alike to come and chat about the research they undertake.

Ruby Osborn from Weston Park Cancer Charity will also be attending to discuss the application process for grants through the charity.

All University staff are welcome to drop in.
