Festive fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease research

Director of Campaigns, Andrew Harris, invites you to take part in a festive fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease research here at the University.

Everyone is welcome to take part and we would love to hear about your fundraising activities. Share your photos and activities with us on social media using #TUOSXmas or email internalcommunications@sheffield.ac.uk

Dear colleague

As we navigate the many challenges of the pandemic, it is of course vital that we continue with our world-leading research. One way that we can all support University research is through fundraising, and as you will know, during the development of the new University vision, we agreed as a University community that philanthropy should be one of our priority areas.

To support this priority, and to help us celebrate together this festive season, we would like to ask for your help with our Parkinson’s appeal. We have set up a festive fundraiser to raise £2,000 before the end of the year. This money will support the essential research of a clinical fellow by providing equipment that furthers personalised treatments for patients, supporting our world-leading Parkinson’s research.

To help departments to get involved, we have put together a simple activity pack with ideas for virtual team activities such as festive workspaces and Christmas craft sessions. The pack also includes details of how to donate. If every department can raise just £50 we will achieve our target of £2,000.

We would really like as many people to get involved as possible. Details have been shared with heads of department and department managers and you may wish to speak to them to coordinate any activity ideas you have.

We understand that this continues to be an incredibly difficult and busy time, and thank you in advance for supporting this appeal if you are able to do so. We hope that by coming together to fundraise, albeit virtually, we can create some space to spend with colleagues in the run up to Christmas, as well as raising funds for essential research.

Many thanks for your support.

With best wishes
