Enjoy sublime vocal music for the festive season

University of Sheffield Concerts welcomes two acclaimed singers offering something a little different for your festive diary this December. From the celebrated folk vocals of Irish singer Cara Dillon, to the award-winning warm tones of mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert.

Cara and her band will capture the mystery of Christmas with a collection of songs, both ancient and modern, to provide a welcome reminder that the festive season can be about much more than consumerism and commercialism.

Throughout an enviable career, this extraordinary Irish singer has been captivating audiences and winning awards. Cara’s expansive career has seen her working on Disney soundtracks to releasing albums on indie label Rough Trade and collaborating with leading UK dance music producers.

SophieNoël: Songs of Winter

Thursday 20 December at 7.30pm in Firth Hall

Offering a serene sanctuary away from the melee of last-minute shopping , Austrian mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert will perform winter songs by Schubert and Christmas songs by a range of composers in what promises to be a captivating yet contemplative concert.

A graduate of the Vienna University of Music, Sophie has won prizes for her wonderful voice in numerous prestigious competitions.
