Help us make the University greener through Green Impact
Are you passionate about making our University more sustainable? Are you ready for a new challenge that makes a difference? Would you like to meet new people and have some fun?
Green Impact are looking for new members to join teams from now on and are holding a special event Wednesday 13 June 12 - 1pm for anyone who wants to find out more about this campus initiative.
What is Green Impact?
Green Impact is a fun and challenging scheme to promote positive environmental action in the day-to-day life of our University.
Working with colleagues in departmental teams, members of staff progress through Bronze, Silver and Gold levels by making meaningful changes to improve sustainability in their work environment. From power-saving initiatives to environmentally-friendly picnics to raising money for charities world-wide, the Green Impact toolkits provide achievable targets for staff to reach together.
At the end of the academic year, Green Impact teams are rewarded for their efforts at the Green Impact Sustainability Showcase. This exciting event provides an opportunity for staff and students to come together and celebrate the positive changes they have made.
The Green Impact Newcomers Session will take place on Wednesday 13 June from 12pm-1pm in Hicks Lecture Theatre A.
Joining a Green Impact team is a great way to meet new friends as part of a rewarding scheme, while making a vital contribution to our environmental impact.
This informal session will cover what Green Impact is all about, what’s in it for you, and how to get involved.

Green Impact Awards Ceremony and Sustainability Showcase
Earlier this month, colleagues who participated in the 2017/18 Green Impact scheme were recognised for their outstanding efforts at a special awards ceremony.
Over 40 teams received awards for their work towards our sustainability goals, which this year contributed to a 568 tonne CO2 saving across campus.
At the celebration, guests enjoyed lunch and listened to a range of speakers including Professor Duncan Cameron, the academic lead for our University’s sustainability strategy.
Sustainability Projects Assistant Jo Wilkinson has done a write-up of the event, which includes details of some of the most groundbreaking environmental action taking place at our University.

This year, our Green Impact teams ran a special day to celebrate the wildlife that shares our campus.
Biodiversity Day saw staff and students from across our University coming together to share their passion for protecting our natural environment.
The event featured an opportunity for animal enthusiasts to discover and identify the footprints of animals living on campus, and to learn more about ecology and conservation.
Participants also enjoyed a unique glimpse of our hidden neighbours through wildlife footage recorded on campus.
