Interim Vice-President and Head of Faculty

Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Professor Jackie Labbe will be leaving the University in June to take up the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at De Montfort University.

Jackie has led the Faculty of Arts and Humanities for nearly four years and during this time the Faculty has consolidated its reputation for excellence in teaching and research and has seen an improved international league table position in many of its departments. Arts and humanities are an integral part of our academic endeavour.

We are seeking to appoint an Interim Vice-President and Head of Faculty through an internal recruitment process. We would aim to have this person in post by 1 May 2017, thus allowing for a minimum one month handover with Jackie, until the end of December 2017.

This is an excellent development and leadership opportunity. The successful applicant will report to me and have access to support and mentoring from other members of the University Executive Board.

We are therefore inviting colleagues to submit their CV along with their expression of interest in the position, outlining their suitability for the role and relevant leadership experience (maximum two sides of A4).

Please send this to Claire Jones, Human Resources Manager at by 9am on Wednesday 22 March. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview with a view to taking up the post from 1 May.

If anyone would like to discuss the role informally, I would be happy to do so. Alternatively both Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Dodman and Director of HR and Communications Tracy Wray would be happy to talk to you.

Best wishes,

Shearer West
Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor
