Welcoming Professor Chris Newman to the leadership team

Congratulations to Professor Chris Newman, who has joined our leadership team as Interim Vice-President for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health (MDH).

Professor Chris Newman takes over from Professor Dame Pam Shaw, who is stepping down to focus on her role as Director of the University’s new Institute for Neuroscience, as well as continuing her clinical work in Neurology.

Chris joined the University in 1995 and is currently Dean of the Medical School and Deputy Vice-President of MDH. He is also Professor of Clinical Cardiology and Director of the NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility.

Professor Gill Valentine, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Chris to the leadership team. I’d like to thank Pam for her inspiring leadership of Medicine, Dentistry and Health which has brought significant improvements in all aspects of the Faculty’s performance over the last three years.
