The Great British Bake Off's Martha Collison to judge the Big University Bake
On Thursday 22 February, Martha Collison, the youngest ever contestant on the Great British Bake Off will be visiting our University to judge The Big University Bake, a baking competition open to staff and students.
Categories include Pastry, Cupcakes, Whole Cakes and Savoury Bakes. Entries will be judged by a panel of expert chefs and keen bakers, including Martha.
Winners will be announced at a special Q&A event from 4pm-5pm on the sane day Students’ Union Discovery Rooms. The Q&A will be hosted by TV chef and native Yorkshireman Joe Hurd who has previously hosted BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and our University’s An Audience with Fred Sirieix last year. Tickets for the Q&A are free and available here.
Cakes from the competition will be sold in order to raise money for the Sheffield Scanner Appeal, with donations also being taken at the Q&A. Our University is raising £2 million to establish a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility which will transform our understanding of serious conditions like cancer, dementia, heart and lung diseases, MND, Parkinson's and stroke and the way we treat them in the future.
Later in the evening, Martha will be hosting An Evening with Martha Collison at our INOX restaurant, featuring a delicious three course meal made from Martha’s own recipes with a Q&A.
