Our green campus

Meet the incredible colleagues who are involved in looking after our plants and trees, and improving staff and student wellbeing through landscape design.

We’ve recently invested in ‘greening the campus’ improving our public spaces with planting and trees. Planting on campus has been revolutionised over the past few years with sustainable, low-maintenance plants that are climate change adapted.

Public spaces have been created for staff, students and the people of Sheffield to enjoy.

Our academic research shows that people are positively affected by green spaces and improvements can make a difference to staff and student mental health.

We have over 10,500 trees on campus and we look after them by assessing their health and maintaining them where necessary. We plant more trees every year to help keep our campus green.
