Present your research at Pint of Science 2020
The Pint of Science Team is preparing for the 2020 festival and are looking for researchers with ideas for fun and engaging talks and demonstrations, based on their research. This will be the fifth year that Sheffield has hosted Pint of Science which has proved to be a successful and popular part of the city's events calendar.
Pint of Science is an annual festival that takes place over three evenings in multiple cities around the world. In 2020 the festival will run from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 May. The aim of Pint of Science is to present fun, interesting and relevant talks and activities based on the latest science research in an accessible format to the public, in a pub setting.
In Sheffield, the Pint of Science Festival will run in six city pubs over the three days. Each pub will host talks on one of the themes of the festival:
- Atoms to Galaxies: physics, chemistry, maths, astronomy
- Beautiful Mind: neuroscience, psychology and psychiatry
- Our Body: medicine, human biology, health
- Our Society: law, history, politics, policy, languages
- Planet Earth: geosciences, plant sciences, zoology
- Tech Me Out: biotechnology, robotics, computers
Talks and demonstrations must fit within one of the above themes and should be aimed at a non-specialist, general public audience. Talks will need to fit within a 20–30 minute slot, depending on the schedule for the evening, and should be based on the speaker or demonstrator's recent research (within the past five years).
The deadline for submitting applications is 5pm on Friday 31 January 2020.
