Sheffield University Drama Society is looking for new members
Sheffield University Drama Society (SUDS), founded for staff and alumni, plans to stage Shakespeare’s The Tempest in October 2018.
The Society normally stages two or three productions a year in the well-equipped University Drama Studio. It is generally acknowledged as one of the best societies in the region, winning many local awards. It undertakes a wide range of classic and modern plays, some of which are not often tackled by amateurs.
New members of the society would be very welcome. Find out how you can get involved at an informal introductory drama workshop taking place at 8.00pm on Thursday 21 June in Rehearsal Room 1 at the Drama Studio on Shearwood Road. It will be a great opportunity to get to know the play and to meet the director of the play, Ed Bancroft.
Auditions will be taking place the week after. There is no need to prepare, just turn up at the following times:
8.00pm Tuesay 26 June
8.00pm Thursday 28 June
The cast will be selected in early July and rehearsals will be held in the evenings 4 in July and 3 per week from Monday 3 September until the week of the play week which starts on Sunday 28 October.
There is no need to book for the introductory workshop or the auditions. The workshop is optional
and each person need only attend one audition. Rehearsals will be scheduled to accommodate the
availability of members of the cast.
An open meeting will be held at a time to be confirmed, for anyone interested in helping with technical and backstage tasks.
