Celebrating the success of our student employees

Thank you to everyone who nominated your inspirational students for the Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) Awards 2016; an impressive 89 submissions were made this year and five students and colleagues were awarded regional awards. Our students have since gone on to scoop four national awards.

Nominations included those from students, who had the option to nominate their University employers for giving them exceptional support to succeed. This year, Adam Greenwood from our University Counselling Service scooped the regional Employer award.

The National SEOTY awards acknowledge and celebrate the effort so many of our students go to in balancing a part time job with demanding study schedules, as well as the extra-curricular activities they commit to.

To recognise this, as well as the contribution their part-time work makes to the life of the University, University employers can nominate their outstanding student employees.

These nominees are congratulated at a celebration event here at the University, which took place this year on 6 June. The awards were presented by our Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, Professor Wyn Morgan. Staff can nominate student employees in three different categories which reflect the variety of ways in which students contribute to their workplace: Above and Beyond, Step Up to Leadership and Commercial Impact.

Institutional winners here at Sheffield go on to the regional round and then on to the national celebration.
