The Juice Needlework group are hosting Stitch for Sheffield Scan in the Diamond Exhibition Space on Thursday 6 December 2018.

Colleagues have been busy creating festive wares available for purchase with proceeds going to the Sheffield Scanner appeal.

A chance to sing some well known and lesser known Christmas carols, many of which originate from villages to the north of Sheffield.

Monday 10 December 2018 and Friday 14 December 2018 12.30-1.50pm at St Andrew’s URCC Church on Upper Hanover Way.

A reverse advent calendar

With this Reverse Advent Calendar YOU GIVE the reward on each day of advent.

You will need to collect one food item per day and putting them all together to create a special parcel which will be donated to the S6 food bank.

Please collect within departments and deliver your advent hampers to the BEACH HUT in the SU plaza on stall 4 by Thursday 13 December 2018.

Head over to Inox for Christmas lunches and brunches. This year their Christma crackers are 100 per cent recyclable with a donation of seven per cent from each box going to Shelter.

Chipping & recycling of trees

Last year we chipped 364 trees and once broken down the chip was used on campus as mulch, keeping soil moist and healthy and reducing weed growth, and keeping our campus bright and beautiful year-round!

All welcome, bring your tree to the IC car park on Saturday 5 January 2019 from 8am-3pm.

Here is a reminder of all the closure days:

  • Monday 24 December 2018 is a closure day (Christmas Eve)
  • Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 December 2018 are bank holidasy (Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
  • Thursday 27, Friday 28, Monday 31 December 2018 are closure days
  • Tuesday 1 January 2019 is a bank holiday (New Year’s Day)

Ok, so not strictly University, but a perfect opportunity for festive crafts?!

Our Favourite Places is inviting contributions to One Hundred Views of the Arts Tower. Photography, illustration, sculpture, ceramics, cross-stitch – whatever your creative inclination, they'd love to see your depictions of Sheffield's modernist beacon. Chosen artworks will go on display in the Art's Tower gallery next year.

Energy Saving Tips

Support sustainability at Sheffield by switching off before you leave for the holidays:

  • Make sure monitors are switched off, not just on standby
  • Make sure all windows are closed
  • Unplug all chargers and other unnecessary equipment
  • Switch off the lights
