Register your interest in city-wide volunteering scheme

We're proud of the way our staff and students have come together to support the local and national response to the coronavirus crisis, from our vital research to volunteering your skills and expertise where it is needed most and we thank you for that.

Working closely with local organisations, such as Voluntary Action Sheffield, the Council and other City Partners, we are also looking to facilitate our support for locally where it is needed most. This includes offering volunteers from the University to carry out key services that may be under pressure as a result of the crisis.

Services across the city are currently coping well, but we are putting plans in place to respond quickly to future requests. As a first step, please complete this Google Form if you are interested in supporting the local response if needed. Registering your interest does not guarantee volunteering activities under this particular city-wide scheme but should suitable opportunities arise you will be contacted with more information.

Volunteering and furlough

Please note that staff who are furloughed are able to volunteer both through the city-wide scheme mentioned above and in their local community while furloughed. You cannot however volunteer your time to undertake work for the University.

We know that many of you are already supporting your local communities and we would also love to hear from you. Share your stories of how you have been helping by emailing internalcommunications@sheffield.ac.uk For those who are keen to volunteer and would need to do so at specific times, please do have a discussion with your line manager in the first instance, to talk about how this would fit with your work commitments.
