Professor Alicia O'Cathain
Alicia leads groundbreaking research that transforms treatment for patients as Director of the Medical Care Research Unit.
With a diversity of experience both in the School of Health and Related Research and the NHS, Alicia is an expert in methods of patient care. She directs a team in developing complex interventions for chronic conditions, such as the use of telehealth in treating depression. Her unit also generates projects designed to improve emergency and urgent patient care.
Alicia influences world-leading research taking place across the country as a member of the panel for NIHR Applied Research Programme Grants. She also served as Deputy Chair of MRC Population Health Science Fellowships Panel for four years.
