Laboratory Technician in the Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering

"In my role as a research technician/research assistant within the Energy Storage and Electrochemistry research group in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering I oversee several aspects of the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

"This firstly includes providing training as well as operating and maintaining materials and battery testing instrumentation. I also provide advice and assistance on laboratory health and safety as well as several other departmental duties including radiation and laser safety. Alongside this I’m pursuing a part time MPhil on the subject of medical electrochemistry, a relatively modern concept which will hopefully lead to advances in the diagnosis of conditions such as sepsis and cancer.

"I find the work within the research group very satisfying, as not only do I have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge instrumentation, I can also see the real life impact of developments in battery technology."
