Get ahead with 301’s Academic Skills Workshop programme
Get your studies off to a flying start this academic year by making the most of 301’s Academic Skills Workshops.
Whether you’re coming to university for the first time, or moving between years of study, you will need to reflect on existing skills and consider whether you need to develop any new ones. 301 can support you in taking control of your own learning to make sure you get the best possible start to the year.
Our range of Academic Skills Workshops is available to students from all disciplines and at all levels of study. Topics include:
- Taking effective notes in lectures
- Performing well in seminars and tutorials
- Critical thinking
- Speed reading
- Working effectively in groups
Most of our workshops last approximately 1 hour and are interactive group-based sessions where you will get the opportunity to practise tools and techniques and meet other students.
Workshops take place at the 301 Student Skills and Development Centre located at 301 Glossop
Road (opposite the Bar One entrance of the Students’ Union) on various days and times to suit you.
You can find out more about what’s available by attending one of our introductory sessions where we will introduce our services, identify the key skills you need to develop and get you registered on your first workshops.
Participation in the 301 workshop programme can be formally recognised on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) by working towards the 301 Academic Skills Certificate.
