Careers MOOCThe University of Sheffield Careers Service are running a mini-MOOC to help you develop your interview skills "How to Succeed at Interviews" is a free online course designed to provide you with the skills you need to land your dream job.

This course will help you to succeed at interviews, whether you are applying for jobs or planning to study. Being offered an interview can be quite daunting, so this course will provide you will a set of materials to help you prepare and be successful on the day.

You’ll be shown how to research the organisation so you can answer that frequently asked question ‘why do you want to work for us?’ with style. You’ll get advice on what to wear (and what not to wear) and go through some common interview questions. You’ll also receive tips from employers and admissions tutors on what they look for in candidates and cover the types of questions you should be asking them.

Finally, the course will talk you through how to prepare for different types of interview, including how to make an impression via telephone or video or within a group setting. It’ll also help you prepare for tests and practical work that may be included as part of the interview process.

The course starts on 3 November 2014 and lasts for three weeks.

The course is highly participative and include articles for you to read, videos to watch and interactive material. There will also be discussions where you and other participants can learn from and support each other, as well as self-reflective exercises and quizzes. Throughout the course you’ll be encouraged to collect a portfolio of your work which will help you in the future.
