Sheffield Students Sporting Success

University of Sheffield students have achieved successful results at this years BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) competition.

BUCS Nationals, based in Sheffield this year, involves more than 6,000 from universities from across the country competing in a variety of different athletics.

Sheffield students also achieved great results in the Midlands Cup 2018 for snooker.

We’d like to say a huge congratulations to our students, who achieved remarkable results across different sports events over the past week:

Judo:
Ben Gasforth, Men’s 100kg: Gold
Anna Brittain, Women’s 63kg: Gold
Aidan Lowery, Men’s 73kg: Bronze

Karate:
Cuba Parris, Men’s Senior Kumite U60kg: Gold

Athletics:
Dominic Brown, 1500m: Silver
Ella Barratt, 400m: Bronze
4x200m Womens: Bronze finals

Cricket:
Women’s Cricket Super 8s & Championship Final: Bronze

Futsal:
12-1 win for the University of Sheffied Futsal team, who are now through to the last 16 of the trophy.

Men’s Futsal: 11-7 win for Sheffield, who are also now through to the last 16 of the trophy.

Snooker:
The University of Sheffield’s Pool and Snooker Club finished runners up in the 2018 Midlands Cup. Congratulations to the team: David Reynolds (Team Captain), John Hamilton (Club Captain), Bradley Andrews, Jamie Chui and Jake Dodd.
